Comparison · Updated September 2026
The best AI cooking apps in 2026, compared honestly.
"AI cooking app" now covers everything from recipe generators to live voice chefs. They solve different problems, so the best one depends on which part of cooking you want help with. We make Glutt, so we have tried hard to be fair about where other apps are better.
The best AI cooking app depends on the job. For cooking hands-free with a live AI chef that talks you through your recipe and can see the pan: Glutt. For organizing recipes saved from social media: ReciMe. For a buy-once recipe manager: Paprika. For "what can I make with what I have," free: SuperCook. For blind and low-vision cooks: Cookie Voice Recipes. For quick questions with nothing new to install: ChatGPT, or Meta AI if you own Meta glasses.
How we compared
We looked at what each app actually does in the kitchen, in four areas: AI help while cooking (voice, camera, answers to questions), getting recipes in (imports from TikTok, Instagram and websites), knowing your kitchen (pantry, missing ingredients, grocery lists) and cost. Features are taken from each app's App Store listing and website, checked in September 2026. Apps change quickly, so check the listing before you pay for anything.
Disclosure: Glutt is our app. We have listed it where we think it fits and named other apps as the better choice where they are.

The apps, one by one
Glutt: best for cooking hands-free with a live AI chef
Glutt is an iPhone app built around Polly, a live voice AI chef. You save a recipe from anywhere (it even transcribes recipes that are only spoken in a video), then cook it while Polly walks you through each step, answers questions out loud, runs timers and, with the camera on, looks at the pan. It also tracks your pantry and builds grocery lists, and it is the only recipe app we found that picks the microphones and speakers of Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses automatically. Not for you if: you use Android, want a buy-once app, or only want a place to file recipes.
ReciMe: best for organizing social media recipes
ReciMe is the big name in saving recipes from Instagram and TikTok, with a large user base and polished imports, meal plans and grocery lists. It is an organizer first. Its AI helps with the recipe, not with cooking it hands-free.
Paprika 3: best one-time purchase
Paprika has been the dependable recipe manager for years: works offline, syncs across Apple, Android, Mac and Windows, and you pay once per platform. There is little AI in it, which some people see as a feature.
Crouton: best Apple-native design
Crouton is a beautifully made recipe manager for Apple devices. Its hands-free mode uses hand gestures in front of the camera to move between steps, which is great for flipping pages but can't answer a question.
Pestle: best voice commands and cooking together
Pestle imports from Instagram and TikTok, supports voice commands like "next" and "back," and lets you cook the same recipe with a friend over FaceTime.
SideChef: best for shoppable, guided recipes
SideChef offers thousands of step-by-step recipes with voice commands and grocery ordering. It is strongest when you cook from its catalog rather than your own saves.
Samsung Food: best free all-rounder
Formerly Whisk, Samsung Food is a free planner and recipe saver with the deepest smart-appliance integration, if your kitchen is Samsung.
SuperCook: best free "what can I make with what I have"
Tell SuperCook what is in your kitchen and it finds recipes across millions of pages that use it. Free, simple and very good at exactly one thing.
ChefGPT: best AI recipe generator
If you want the AI to invent the recipe, from pantry ingredients or to hit a macro target, ChefGPT is built for that. It won't talk you through the cook.
Suvio: another conversational voice option
Suvio is a newer app with a conversational AI sous chef and social imports. It is worth comparing with Glutt if voice help is what you want.
Cookie Voice Recipes: best for blind and low-vision cooks
Cookie was designed for VoiceOver users from the start, and it is listed in AppleVis, the app directory run by and for blind iPhone users. If accessibility is your main need, start here.
ChatGPT and Meta AI: best when you don't want another app
General assistants are free or already paid for, and great for conversions, substitutions and ideas. Meta AI on Ray-Ban Meta glasses adds live AI that can see what you see. Neither knows the recipe you saved or which step you're on, which is the gap cooking-specific apps fill.
How to choose
- You cook from saved videos and get lost halfway through: a voice AI chef, such as Glutt.
- You have hundreds of saves and no system: an organizer, such as ReciMe or Paprika.
- You stare into the fridge at 6 pm: SuperCook, or Glutt's pantry-aware suggestions.
- You want the AI to invent dinner: ChefGPT, or just ask ChatGPT.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI cooking app?
There is no single best one. For hands-free cooking with a live AI chef, Glutt is built for that. For organizing social media recipes, ReciMe. For a free "what can I cook with what I have" tool, SuperCook. For blind and low-vision cooks, Cookie Voice Recipes.
Is there an AI that can talk me through cooking?
Yes. Glutt's AI chef, Polly, talks you through the recipe you are cooking: say "Chef" and ask a question out loud. Suvio and Cookie Voice Recipes also offer conversational voice help, and general assistants like ChatGPT Voice can answer questions without knowing your recipe.
Which cooking app works with Meta glasses?
Meta AI is built into Meta's glasses. Among recipe apps, Glutt automatically uses Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses' microphones and speakers for its AI chef, Polly. See our guide to cooking with Meta glasses.
Are AI cooking apps free?
Some are. SuperCook is free, and ChatGPT and Meta AI have free options. Most apps with AI features, Glutt included, are free to download with a paid subscription for the full experience.
