Mealime is shutting down. Here is what to use instead.
Mealime, the popular meal-planning app, is being discontinued on October 21, 2026. If you relied on it for weekly plans and grocery lists, here is how to keep your recipes and where to go next.
Mealime will be discontinued on October 21, 2026, and says all personal data will be deleted when the app shuts down. Its closing notice does not offer an export, so save the recipes you care about before October 21. Mealime's recipes also live on public pages at mealime.com, so you can import them into another recipe app by link. Good replacements: Meals Hub (Mealime's official successor, inside Albertsons-family grocery apps), Plan to Eat or Paprika for a classic planner, Samsung Food for free, and Glutt if you want a live AI chef to cook with.
What is happening to Mealime
Mealime's own closing page, titled "Mealime is moving to Meals Hub," says: 1
- "Mealime will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026."
- Pro subscribers "will not be charged any additional subscription fees" before then, and all Pro recipes and features are now available to every Mealime user.
- Users are pointed to Meals Hub, which lives inside Albertsons Companies grocery apps such as Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco, ACME Markets and Shaw's.
- "All personal data will be deleted when the Mealime application is shut down."
The notice says nothing about exporting recipes, meal plans or grocery lists. Plan on anything you have not copied out by October 21 being gone.
How to save your Mealime recipes before October 21
- List the recipes you actually cook. Most people have a dozen favorites, not hundreds. Start there.
- Find each one on mealime.com. Mealime's recipes are published as public web pages under
mealime.com/recipes/, so a web search for the recipe name plus "Mealime" usually finds it. - Import the page into your new app. Most recipe apps can import a recipe from a web link. In Glutt, share the page from Safari to Glutt, or paste the link, and it becomes a recipe with ingredients and steps.
- Screenshot anything you can't find. If a recipe or a note only exists inside the app, take screenshots. Glutt, and several other apps, can read a recipe from a screenshot.
- Do it early. Once the app shuts down, its data is deleted, and there is no guarantee the public recipe pages will stay up either.
What made Mealime good, and what to look for in a replacement
People loved Mealime for a short list of things. Check any replacement against them:
- Fast weekly planning. Pick a few dinners and the week is sorted.
- A grocery list that builds itself, grouped so shopping is quick.
- Simple, quick recipes for weeknights.
- Diet preferences that filter what you see.
The best Mealime alternatives
| App | Best for | Planning and groceries | Imports your recipes | Pricing model |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meals Hub | Staying closest to Mealime, if you shop at an Albertsons-family store | Recipes and shopping inside the grocery app | Built around its own recipes | Part of the grocery apps |
| Plan to Eat | A classic drag-and-drop meal planner for your own recipes | Planner calendar and shopping list | Yes, from recipe websites | Subscription |
| Paprika 3 | Buy once and own it | Meal planner and grocery lists | Yes, from recipe websites | One-time purchase per platform |
| Samsung Food | A free all-rounder | Meal plans and shopping lists | Yes, web and social links | Free, with Food+ subscription |
| Glutt | Cooking what you save, hands-free, with a live AI chef | Weekly plans; a grocery list of only what your kitchen is missing | Yes: websites, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, screenshots | Free download; subscription with free trial |
If you want the least change: Meals Hub
It is Mealime's official next home, and the easiest move if you already shop at a store in the Albertsons family. If you don't, it is less useful.
If you want a planner for your own recipes: Plan to Eat or Paprika
Both import recipes from websites and turn a weekly plan into a shopping list. Plan to Eat is a subscription with a strong planning calendar; Paprika is a one-time purchase per platform with a long track record.
If you want it free: Samsung Food
Samsung Food (formerly Whisk) plans meals and builds shopping lists at no cost, with an optional paid tier.
If you want help at the stove too: Glutt
Glutt is built around the recipes you save, from anywhere. It checks them against what is in your fridge and pantry, plans your week, and puts only what you are missing on the grocery list. Then it goes a step further than Mealime did: Polly, Glutt's live voice AI chef, talks you through the recipe hands-free while you cook. Glutt is not a one-for-one Mealime clone. It has no big built-in library of quick weeknight plans generated for you. If that library was the whole point for you, try Meals Hub first.
